Irwandi Asks KAI to Socialize Residents About Kemayoran Railroad Crossing Closure

Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Irwandi asked that plan to close railroad crossing on Jalan Bungur Besar 17 RW 14, Gunung Sahari Selatan, to be socialized properly to local residents.

Socialization should be carried out massively and humanely

He assessed that closure of Bungur 17 line, which is adjacent to Kemayoran Station should be studied carefully thus access for residents and traders in the surrounding area will not be disrupted. Considering that every morning local residents always use this location as temporary market.

"Socialization should be carried out massively and humanely. RT, RW, LMK, FKDM administrators should be involved thus the closure of railroad crossing can run well," he said while visiting the location with the ranks of PT. KAI, on Monday (1/10).

Tanjung Barat and Lenteng Agung Flyovers Trial Period is Extended

He expects there will be a solution for closing this railroad crossing. For example by building pedestrian crossing bridge (JPO) thus people's economic access is not disturbed.

Meanwhile, PT. KAI Daop 1 Head, Suryawan mentioned, his side targeted to close railroad crossing in March 2022.

The reason for this closure is related to development at Manggarai Station where volume of train travel increases. This closure is also one of his efforts to reduce accident level at railroad crossing.

"This is to reduce accidents because frequency of trains passing in the area will increase. So, this road can no longer be passed by two-wheeled vehicles or more," he stated.
